Update on NOAH

The Swanson Family is looking forward to saying good bye to 2014. It was a rough year for all of us. With Noah getting severe chronic graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) the passing of both paternal grandparents and our home flooding while on vacation. We are looking forward to 2015.

There has been some great progress for Noah. Noah has been doing Extracorporeal photopheresis for his chronic graft-versus-host disease twice a month since September. He has been on this treatment for 6 months. His skin is doing much better. He still has no hair growth which is concerning. The doctors are puzzled to why it hasn’t grown back. Noah started preschool this fall. He is thriving from the peer interaction and social interaction. He has also started karate in November. We are hoping that his doctors will start tapering him off his autoimmune medication starting in January. If this happens he will evidentially get off his IV fluids and his central line will be replaced with a port. The best part of all of this will that he will be able to go back to visiting his favorite place the zoo.
